ABOUT US: The History of Spirit of Pentecost

The humble beginnings of Spirit of Pentecost took root in the late 1970s.  During these first years of growth, the church began as a home missions church with a focus on reaching the lost.

In 1981, Terrell Heard along with his wife, Rebecca and two children, arrived in Mississauga, Ontario and assumed the role of Pastor.  Leading with a dedication to prayer, fasting and a commitment to Jesus Christ, the church continued to grow with each passing year.

By God's grace, during these years of growth, the church continued to push forward into new ground. This once tiny home mission church, which held Sunday church services in a school gymnasium, officially began a new building program in 1982; dedication of the new church building took place in 1986.

In 1999, the church officially changed its' name to Spirit of Pentecost.  Over the next 7 years, growth and expansion continued with new ministries and new lands being touched by Spirit of Pentecost. Multiple missions' trips were made to Africa and the Philippines, with many of our church members attending crusades to share the gospel with people on the other side of the world.  International outreach plays a very important role in fulfilling the gospel; Our desire has always been to help those in our local community, as well as those in less fortunate countries

As growth continued to push us forward, in December 2005, Spirit of Pentecost purchased 8.5 acres of property in Mississauga to allow for more expansion. The property is currently being rezoned with hopes for completing our new building by December 2010. (Click Here for the Building Update)
